In a magical area of jungle in the western section of the kulen Mountains. Kbal Spean was used by the Khmer as a hill retreat in the mid - eleventh century. When they carved sacred lingas and hindu gods into the bedrock of the river, the water flowing down the river would thus be blessed by the carvings before coursing on to Angkor. At the top of the hill you can rest awhile on a riverside rock.

Located in rocky, scrub - covered terrain, Koh Ke was briefly capital of the Khmer Empire in the tenth century, when Jayavarman IV who was already ruler of his own state here when he ascended the impireal throng - decided not to relocate to Angkor, but decreed instead that the court should come to him. Koh Ke is particularly renowned for its massive statues, which were the first in Khmer art to depict movement.

Early morning depart Siem Reap to Banteay Chhmar via Serei Sophoan by private A/C transportation. Arrive the temple by noon. Picnic lunch on site.
